1 – Tenuto

To celebrate the franchise and group’s 10th anniversary, Re:vale released “Tenuto”, song that brings a uniquely jaunty sound to the spotlight that mixes jazz with R&B and EDM, a nod to all the phases – musically – that the group has been through so far.

The first thing you’ll notice about this song is the deep bass line – with the right pair of headphones, this song will be throbbing in your ears -, along with a hi-hat-driven beat, funky guitars, and synth stabs giving this song a stylish vibe.

As the song builds up to the chorus, some of those elements tone down to give the spotlight to Soichiro Hoshi and Shinnosuke Tachibana’s vocals.

When the chorus kicks in, the bright piano, synths, and Rhodes piano team up to create a dreamy, fun, and nostalgic sound. A pity, though, because the chorus is super short.

Expect drums brushes, and other jazz touches mixed with R&B’s synths in the verses, and when the bridge comes, it brings a Rhodes piano solo on top of the groovy bass line and addictive percussion.

When it comes to the vocals, especially with this song being a sort of nod to their 10-year journey, it is amazing to notice how much both Hoshi and Tachibana have improved over the years and how their sound now fits their mature vibe and their vocals much better than at the start. Their chemistry has also improved, with their vocals working insanely well together, complementing each other.

All in all, “Tenuto” is a fun, stylish jazz-pop tune that is both perfect to listen to when you want to relax and to hit the dancefloor and enjoy its retro vibes and groovy performance.

Re:vale consists of Yuki (CV: Shinnosuke Tachibana) and Momo (CV: Soichiro Hoshi).
