EVENT REPORT | Utano☆Prince sama Shining Live at AnimeJapan 2019

A special panel on the popular smartphone game, Utano☆Prince sama Shining Live, was held this past weekend at AnimeJapan 2019 featuring the voice of Otoya Ittoki, Takuma Terashima. THTFHQ brings you an exclusive report on this panel.

Utano☆Princesama Shining Live is a free-to-play smartphone rhythm game based on the popular male idol franchise, Utano☆Princesama. The game is a collaboration between Broccoli and KLabGames. It has over 4 million downloads and proved itself as one of the most popular rhythm games in the market.

Utano☆Princesama Shining Live‘s panel at AnimeJapan 2019 was livestreamed via Youtube, with English commentary as well as one without commentary, on 23/03/2019 at 11:00-12:00 JST.

Takuma Terashima, the voice of Otoya Ittoki, was the special guest for this event. The event unfolded with a talk show corner, rhythm gameplay as well as the announcement of various news on the smartphone game.

The event kicked off with a short introduction on the game as well as the guest, who promptly entered the stage.

After the brief introductions, the first corner was “Shining Live On Stage”. Terashima mentioned the last time he played live for everyone – TGS 2018 – he didn’t get a full combo but he hoped this time around, playing Ultra Blast, would feel different. After picking up an all Otoya team he proceeded to play Ultra Blast on Pro difficulty. Despite some struggles while playing the song for the first time, he still managed to score an S on it. He complained about the cold weather as well as the technical parts in the song as the reasons he had failed to get a full combo.

He then played “Nijiiro Over Drive!”. He played the song with free 11-Shot Photo Shoots on the line for each 100 combo he’d get. In the end Terashima managed to get an over 300 combo, giving fans a total of three days of free 11-Shot Photo Shoots .

The next corner was a “look back into what has happened in Shining Live” since November 2018. Talk about the most recent events, daily and monthly missions, daily photo shoots and more was covered on this section of the event.

Following that there were 3 challenges for Terashima, giving an opportunity for gift another three days of free 11-Shot Photo Shoots (one for each challenge) for the game’s fans.

For “Quiz Shining Live Mania”, Terashima had to guess what was covered with a question mark on the pictures shown on the big screen on stage. He cleared the first stage.

It was followed by “Shining Live Gesture Game”. For this corner, he had to listen to a song featured in game and could only show the song through gestures for the audience to guess what song he was listening to. He cleared this game.

To wrap up the variety corner, Terashima cleared the “Shining Live Memory Game” thanks to the staff’s help.

The event wrapped up with the latest news on UtanoPrincesama Shining Live. An event ongoing at the time with Cecil and Camus, Photo Shoots, special login prisms, how the players’ input has helped with recent game improvements, upcoming special events, and many other things.

The final corner consisted of Terashima taking a photo with the audience using the game’s camera function.

Utano☆Princesama Shining Live (English version) is available on iOS (App Store) and Android (Google Play store).
