Track analysis:

1 – Between the Sheets

SolidS‘ 4th entry in the RE:START series puts the spotlight on their fiery and alluring vibe. Between the Sheets has a raw, dirty sound, making great use of metallic sounding snare-y drums and a groovy slap bass line, making the song’s introduction one to remember. As the song progresses, brass and jazzy piano melodies add the group’s trademark touch to the instrumental, classy, chaotic and passionate. The chorus is peculiar, rawer than usual but it flows well with this song as well as fits perfectly with the contrasting vocals in this song.

The lyrics made nods at some of the group’s previous songs (i.e Grave of Lovers) but mostly play around with innuendos and double entendres, something their fans are well used to.

Vocals are powerful and raw, bringing a whole lot of emotion to the table, with the highlights being the performance in the chorus and the whispery vocals right after each chorus – that add a tasteful touch to this song. The EguchiHanae duo has performed some of the group’s best duo songs and once again showcase their vocal prowess and chemistry. We’ve said it before but the contrast between Eguchi’s deep vocals and Hanae’s soft, higher pitched vocals is perfect for songs that have an edge such as this one.

SolidS are on a roll with their 4th consecutive entry in the RE:START series being yet another unique performance filled with flair and quality.
