Tatsumaru Tachibana

KANJI: 橘 龍丸

BORN: April 21, 1991

OCCUPATION: Voice Actor, Stage Actor, Kabuki Actor

HEIGHT: 172 cm

Tatsumaru Tachibana was born on April 21, 1991, in Fukui, Japan, and is currently represented by Stay Luck.

Acting

He comes from a family with strong ties to theatre. His father founded a theatre company and as such, Tatsumaru Tachibana started acting at the age of 10.

Due to that, he often changed schools while performing with the traveling theatre group “Tachibana Koryumaru Gekidan“.

From 2010 to 2015, he served as the head of the troupe. After that, he left the troupe to start working in Tokyo on stage plays and musicals.

Since then he has acted in over 30 different plays and musicals, impressing with his versatility to take on any kind of role.

Fans will get to check him out in various stage play adaptations of otome games such as Collar x Malice -Okazaki Kei Hen- (as Takeru Sasazuka), NORN9 Norn + Nonette (as Akito Shukuri), and Ikemen Sengoku (as Kenshin Uesugi).

Other stage plays include (the list is not extensive):

  • Fushigi Yuugi – Shu no Sho – (2016)

Seiyuu

Aside from being a stage actor with vast experience in Kabuki, Tatsumaru Tachibana is also a voice actor – and not just taking occasional roles (like what tends to happen to stage actors trying out voice acting).

He joined the Stay Luck agency – talent agency launched by popular seiyuu Daisuke Namikawa – and began working as a voice actor.

His inspiration to become a voice actor came from watching an interview with Kappei Yamaguchi, who voiced Ranma Saotome in “Ranma 1/2”.

However, he was aware and quite curious about voice acting as a career since he was young.

And in 2019, he got his chance to become a voice actor.

2019 –

The start of the journey

He debuted as a voice actor in 2019 as Torataro Kobayashi in the anime series, Kabukicho Sherlock. He voiced Torataro Kobayashi, a detective with a tough guy vibe but a heart of gold.

Kabukicho Sherlock Pipe Cat Radio (2019 – 2020)

Kabukicho Sherlock Pipe Cat Radio
Junichi Suwabe, Seiichiro Yamashita and Tatsumaru Tachibana

Stemming for the anime series Kabukicho Sherlock, from 2019 until 2020, Tatsumaru Tachibana co-hosted the radio show “Kabukicho Sherlock Pipe Cat Radio” alongside fellow seiyuu Junichi Suwabe.

This was his very first take on radio hosting, learning from one of the best in the business – Junichi Suwabe – and learning a lot from fellow seiyuu who guested on this show.

While a bit nervous with some guests, Tachibana quickly warmed up to their antics and listeners noticed just how easygoing and fun he can be.

At the same time, his banter with Suwabe ended up being quite fun, with him teasing Tachibana but always with the focus on making him feel comfortable on the radio show.

Games

As far as roles in video games go, Tatsumaru Tachibana has quite a few. His first role in a video game was in 2017 in Fantasy Squad: Marie’s Jewel.

Since then, he’s lent voice to characters such as:

Pitsch Arbouris in CARAVAN STORIES (2020)

  • TOKYO COLOR SONIC
  • Kageki Shojo!!
  • Trapped in a Dating Sim: The World of Otome Games Is Tough for Mobs

Music

Having started his career as a voice actor only in 2019, at the time of writing this feature, Tatsumaru Tachibana has only a few 2D music projects under his belt.

However, from what he’s shown so far, he has a natural delicate voice but if need be, he can go a bit lower, add a raspy, tough edge to it, and rock out.

Below are some of the 2D music groups he’s been a part of:

Ro$$o Cor$a (2021 – 2022)

  • Roo Cora 2
  • Roo Cora 1

Tachibana joined the cast of Dragon’s Bite, an original 2D entertainment project – not focused on music – created by games writer Hiroyuki Kamei.

Dragon’s Bite was a unique project that mixes seiyuu × cooking × music × Romance of the Three Kingdoms, all in the same place.

The story is set at Ryugu, a public casino facility built in Japan in the near future.

Cooking battles among three-member teams have taken place at an illegal casino set up deep beneath the facility.

The battles are fought by the descendants of the heroes of the “Romance of the Three Kingdoms.”

He joined Ro$$o Cor$a, group consisting of Lu Bu (CV: Daiki Hamano), Chen Gong (CV: Tatsumaru Tachibana) and Zhang Liao (CV: Shugo Nakamura).

As part of the group, he performed “Crimson Red” as well as the solo song “Kalavinka“ (迦陵頻伽).

In December 2022, the project announced its end.

Mario (2021 -)

In 2021, Tatsumaru Tachibana joined the Pripara franchise’s male side – Danpri – as Mario, voicing and performing as the character in the franchise’s anime as well as on live shows.

Mario’s sound is all about rock and as such, Tachibana is all about embodying that whole vibe.

He performs with a rough delivery, screams and shouts, and adds a lot of power to his performances.

Tatsumaru-Tachibana-Mario

His voice tone as Mario is completely different from his usual tone – he sounds more delicate and has a naturally higher toned voice – but as this character, he fires all cylinders and delivers exciting performances.

Check the video above for a snippet of the song “Strawberry Bullet Night”.

As Mario, Tachibana performed live for the very first time in 2023. In 2024, he joined DANPRI FESTIVAL.

GOAT (2023 – )

GRAY SHEEP

In 2023, Tatsumaru Tachibana joined the cast of GRAY SHEEP, project created by LOVE&ART, MAGES.’ otome game brand known for titles like “B-PROJECT,” “WAVE!!,” and “Meiji Tokyo Renka”.

The story focuses on the conflict and collaboration between a special force called “GOAT” and a vigilante group known as “BAD SKUNK“.

This mixed media project features drama tracks and music released by GOAT and BAD SKUNK.

BAD SKUNK features vocals by Makoto Furukawa (as JUNKY), Kentaro Kumagai (as AK) and Shunichi Toki (as NERU).

GOAT features vocals by Seiichiro Yamashita (as SNOW), Kent Ito (as COLOR) and Yohei Azakami (as NURSE).

GOAT JOE

He joined the cast of GOAT as JOE.

He has a quick wit and is well-informed, but due to extreme humility and fantasies, he often makes strange remarks. Despite being tall and having good looks, he is awkward and frightened around the opposite sex.

At the moment of writing this feature, it is not confirmed whether or not he will participate in GOAT’s songs.

Variety

Whether it is variety shows – involving tackling challenges or doing something physically intense – or laid-back talk shows, Tachibana has been, since 2021, invited to a lot of shows.

And in all of those he comes across as excitable, entertaining, and friendly. Some show hosts even get quite giddy about having him join them, which is quite interesting.

Below are some of the variety and/or talk shows he has participated in:

Seiichiro Yamashita and Tatsumaru Tachibana ONSTAGE+

In 2019, he joined fellow seiyuu and stage actor Seiichiro Yamashita for a special episode of ONSTAGE+.

With both being known for their work in both voice acting and 2.5D stage performances, they ended up talking about the anime series they were both in at that time – Kabukicho Sherlock – as well as 2.5D stage plays such as Ikemen Sengoku: The Stage and Sengoku BASARA.

In 2021, Tatsumaru Tachibana made an appearance on Stay Luck’s official YouTube channel to have a laid back conversation with… his boss and veteran seiyuu Daisuke Namikawa.

“I’ll ask everything I want to know from Namikawa-san! Tipsy Talk.” is a casual and relaxed talk series in which guests can ask anything they want of Namikawa.

Tachibana’s entrance in the episode instantly made Namikawa a bit shy as he was excited about him finally making an appearance. After that, the two of them talked while drinking and eating, leading to a laidback talk between them.

Still in the same year, Tachibana was a guest in Maison de Chaos, laid back talk variety show co-hosted by fellow seiyuu Shugo Nakamura and Chiharu Sawashiro as well as The Oral Cigarettes’ vocalist and guitarist, Takuya Yamanaka.

Maison de Chaos” arrived as a laidback talk show between close friends about all kinds of topics, although mainly connected to music and voice.

He joined the episode to celebrate Chiharu Sawashiro’s birthday, share some stories about him and hang out with the other guests.

Seiyuu Undokai

In 2021, Tatsumaru Tachibana joined the cast of the sports variety show Seiyuu Undokai.

Seiyuu Undokai was an athletic meeting TV variety show where rookie, up-and-coming, and popular seiyuu aim to become the “Number 1 athlete” among seiyuu.

The cast was split into 2 teams: red and blue. The teams were the following.

RED team

  • Kouhei Amasaki,
  • Tatsumaru Tachibana,
  • Masahiro Ito,
  • Naoyuki Shimoduru

BLUE team

In 2023, Tatsumaru Tachibana was a guest on Ryuichi Kijima’s pig-themed variety/talk show “Ryuichi Kijima no Buta Yarou” (木島隆一のこのブタ野郎).

This show stems from Kijima’s love for everything related to pigs. The atmosphere is effortlessly relaxed as they delight in savoring delectable pork-infused dishes.

Adding a dash of whimsy, they take on the challenge of the dummyhead mic and playfully recite cheesy lines, much to the fans’ delight.

In this episode, Tachibana shared that he doesn’t hold his liquor well and will easily get drunk – to which Kijima immediately said he didn’t have to force himself to drink the whole can of beer he was given.

At the same time, both shared how they met each other, and talked about their work, passions, and projects, all while hanging out with a laidback vibe.

Tatsumaru Tachibana TALKING STAND MORINOTH

In 2023, Tachibana was invited to Showtaro Morikubo’s talk show, TALKING STAND MORINOTH.

In it, he talked about his career path and things he was currently enjoying as well shared shared stories and curiosities about himself.
