School of Rock musical cancelled

Yuki Kaji profile 2020

Unfortunately, the Japanese version of the School of Rock musical is cancelled. Yuki Kaji was in the cast.

The musical School of Rock, based on the 2003 Hollywood movie starring Jack Black, was set to premiere in Japan this summer.

Multi-talented seiyuu, Yuki Kaji, was going to make his debut in a large scale, Broadway style musical. Yuki Kaji was going to split acting duties with Hiroki Aiba as Ned Schneebly.

But, as well all know by now, Coronavirus got in the way of things and, as Japan tries to control the spread of the pandemic, the production company behind the Japanese version of the musical decided to announce its full cancellation.

School of Rock is going to run at Brillia HALL in Tokyo in August 2020 and would count with a total of 41 performances.

Refunds are available. For more details, please check the official HORIPRO STAGE website (link below).

There is no mention whether this musical will rescheduled down the line.
