Track analysis:

1 – Period Color

Re:vale celebrates its 7th anniversary in style with “Period Color“, a song that brings to the spotlight tropical-inspired synths for its intro however… it goes hard after that, something that will instantly give strong vibes of the group’s earlier sound.

The song has powerful, glitchy synths in its verses with a couple of melodic stabs on top to add depth and variation to it.

The verses are brief, seamlessly transitioning to an intense yet slow-paced chorus. In this part, I believe the song will shine in a live setting, with fans joining in the chants, raising the tension and energy levels of this track.

The bridge quiets down a bit the instrumental, giving the spotlight to Soichiro Hoshi and Shinnosuke Tachibana’s vocals before going all out for what will be, most likely, a perfect part for a dance break in which the synths go crazy.

As far as the vocals go, Re:vale has been on a good spell, with Hoshi and Tachibana sounding really fine-tuned as a team. You can feel their energy and their solo parts are rock solid, showing a lot of confidence through their intense performance.

All in all, “Period Color” is a song that winks at Re:vale’s debut sound but gives it an updated and stylish coat of paint to please its fans. Although far from being their best song, it’s definitely a song that showcases their growth while having a bit of nostalgia on top.

Re:vale consists of Yuki (CV: Shinnosuke Tachibana) and Momo (CV: Soichiro Hoshi).

REVIEW OVERVIEW

Period Color

SUMMARY

Re:vale revisits its roots, winking at its early day's strong EDM sound while giving it a matured twist to it, result of the group's growth over the years. "Period Color" is a song that will instantly please fans of EDM pop - not so much those that have been more fans of the jazzier pop the duo has embraced in the last couple of years - and counts with a rock-solid performance by Soichiro Hoshi and Shinnosuke Tachibana. High tension and made for the dancefloor, "Period Color" is a catchy addition to Re:vale's repertoire.
