Nozomu Nanase

Nozomu steps into the spotlight with “Yoake no HERO,” a song that showcases an energetic, youthful pop-rock style reminiscent of SOARA.

Titled あの頃の僕らは My Dear Days. (Ano Koro no Bokura wa My Dear Days.), the new CD series has all members of SQ (SolidS and QUELL) and ALIVE (SOARA and Growth) revisiting their old selves.

Track analysis:

1 – Yoake no HERO

Nozomu takes the lead with “Yoake no HERO“, song that brings to the spotlight an upbeat, youthful brand of pop-rock, much in the style of SOARA.

The verses bring a mix of mutted and clean guitar riffs, fun, bassy drums and a punchy bassline. These add a good amount of energy to this track, preparing the listener to the awesome chorus awaiting you.

If you’re a sucker about good, deep basslines, this song more than delivers on that promise (Nozomu’s instrument is… you’ve guessed it, bass).

The chorus is exciting, bringing piano melodies, the guitars get more explosive while the drums open the soundscape with a washier sound. In the 2nd chorus, you’ll even have strings joining in the fun.

At the same time, the backing vocals/chants will genuinely make you want to sing along and just have fun. Yet again, this is what makes SOARA’s music so exciting and Nozomu really brought that careless, youthful vibe back to this track.

When it comes to the vocals, Chiharu Sawashiro delivers on those with an energetic performance, carrying the song forward with a lot of confidence.

And interesting detail – and this is me starting to go on a tangent -: out of all SOARA members so far in the Ano koro no bokura wa CD series, Nozomu is the one that clearly brought the band’s sound as his, which is curious.

You’d think that would be Sora (CV: Toshiyuki Toyonaga) or Morihito (CV: Yuki Ono) but actually, Nozomu is the one that best, let’s say, “embodies” the whole youthful vibe that the band used to have when they started.

I didn’t know what to expect of this song – seeing as Nozomu had never had a solo song before – but in “Yoake no HERO” he certainly delivered something exciting, predictable yet fun for longtime fans.
