Pounding drums and shredding guitars kick open the doors of this intense rock tune.
The verses are relentless on the bassline and drums but that doesn’t compare to how crazy they go when the chorus kicks in.
The chorus goes by in a flash as Shunsuke Takeuchi powers his way through the lyrics, guitars shredding like there is no tomorrow on top of the fast, splashy drums in the background.
Fans of rock music will be delighted to hear the electrifying guitar solo in the bridge, preparing you for what awaits you in the final chorus and outro.
Although not as noticeable, the bassline in the chorus is insane. The way it punches its way through the instrumental, adding a lot of bounce is amazing and a big reason why this song is a load of fun to listen to.
When it comes to the vocals, expect to find Shunsuke Takeuchi performing a high-tension set of verses and chorus parts in a melodic yet powerful way. However, midway through the song you get a treat with Takeuchi shifting to rapping in the smoothest way you could imagine.
The shifts from and back to clean singing and rapping are smooth and go pretty much unnoticeable, making the song flow really well as a whole.
Now, my only reservation about this song is the mixing in the chorus. The clash and hi-hat are too muffled in the mix, at times not being as clean as you’d want in such an intense rock tune.
Other than that, “secret riff maker” is a pleasant surprise in a solo series that, so far, has been full of awesome performances.
