Track analysis:

1 – HELLO CALLiNG

IDOLiSH7 brings a dreamy sound with a tropical twist in its 7th-anniversary song “HELLO CALLiNG”.

The soundscape is wide and airy, with atmospheric synths – much in the tone of “Everything is up to us” – painting the soundscape in a laidback, bubbly and warm way.

There is a nod to the group’s debut sound with the piano bringing a jolly touch to this song however what you find here is IDOLiSH7’s mature take on their upbeat and cozy sound.

What happens is that the verses will make you want to chill out to the track. Atmospheric synths, piano stabs, and timbale-inspired accents add color to this song as a comfortable bass drum-driven beat sets the comfortable mid-tempo you get to enjoy in this track.

Slowly, you’re taken by the hand to the pre-chorus.

The pre-chorus brings in washy synths, smoothly taking the listener to the danceable chorus.

Now, the biggest surprise is in the chorus. It is simple in its presentation. There is no crowding of instruments. Instead, the focus is on creating a wide soundscape in which all members of IDOLiSH7 can shine on the vocal end.

Atmospheric synths, plenty of synths stabs plus a bassline and some hi-hats playing on top of a lead piano melody and that’s all you get in the chorus. And it is enough. Believe me, the sound that IDOLiSH7 has going on in this song is the perfect mix of its debut bubbly sound and their recent matured sound that is more ethereal, oozing happiness and passion.

As far as vocals go, IDOLiSH7 – all members – deliver a fantastic performance in which their unisons don’t feel overbearing (and are really clear in the mixing). When it comes to the individual and pair sections, all members showcase a lot of control, steadily performing this song, making it incredibly pleasing to listen to.

IDOLiSH7 continues its good spell with a stellar anniversary song in “HELLO CALLiNG”.

REVIEW OVERVIEW

HELLO CALLiNG

SUMMARY

Simplicity and maturity have been key in IDOLiSH7’s recent endeavors in the music industry. After releasing their best album to date “Opus” and releasing the warm single “Mallow Blue”, the group throws it out of the park with a beautiful ethereal anniversary song in “HELLO CALLiNG”. Long-time fans will love to find the group’s debut bubbly sound in the jolly piano melody and tropical synth lead in the verses however those that are falling in love with the group’s recent maturity will also love this track. The sound is ethereal, the soundscapes are far and wide and relaxing. The vocals are soothing and warm. “HELLO CALLiNG” capitalizes on that sound but what makes this song a step further are the vocals. IDOLiSH7 has been on a good spell not only for its sound but for the growth that all members went through in the last couple of years. All have improved individually and better yet, it seems that Tsubasa Yonaga’s road to recovery is bearing fruit as his singing - now without triple vocal tracks (a trick to boost power and sound levels to the vocals) helping him out - is now packing more power and is sounding more controlled than in recent years. So you have IDOLiSH7 almost at 100% strength on the vocal end and yet the group is sounding insanely well in comparison to when they were. This attests to individual growth and having songs better tailored to the vocals within the group. As it is “HELLO CALLiNG” is a beautiful anniversary song that looks at the future with a beaming smile on the face while treasuring the past and present.
