IDOLiSH7 celebrates its 8th anniversary with the release of the digital single “Day/Night DiSCO“.

Much in line with what the group has released in the last couple of months, this song brings a funky pop tune to the spotlight.

Turn off the lights and let the disco ball sparkle in the background as the atmospheric synths-led instrumental sweeps in to take you to the dancefloor.

The verses are simple, with funky guitar licks in the background (on your left ear) while a simple – gated – beat teams up with a deep bassline to create one of the funkiest songs in the group’s repertoire.

Slowly, elements are taken and added to the composition but the core atmospheric synths are there as well as the brassy stabs. Those alone are enough to create a dreamy sound you don’t want to end.

As you get to the chorus, the bassline goes crazy low, punching its way through the song as the 80s citypop-inspired synths paint a beautiful soundscape in front of you.

It is as if stars are twinkling in front of you. The soundscape is wide and gentle while being all about its good vibes.

Now, a big surprise in this song is how all those elements and music genre influences – pop, funk, disco, and citypop – meld into a mesmerizing nu-disco tune that is as addictive as it is.

This is a song that retains the group’s original excitement while being so much fun to listen to now with their mature approach to their performances and vastly improved vocals.

Also, it’s good to mention just how unbelievable the bridge is. The bassline and bass drum are relentless in this part and it definitely demands a dance break during it, something I eagerly expect to watch in upcoming live performances by the group.

When “Day/Night DiSCO” wraps up, I want 2 things: non-stop listening to this chill nu-disco tune and wanting more music by IDOLiSH7.

The group has been on a roll with a sound that suits them to perfection.

Absolute marvel and easily one of the best pop tunes released this year by a 2D group.
