IDOLiSH7 arrives with “Ayana Spinel”, single that kicks off in a quieter fashion, led by gated piano hits.

The verses are all about their hip-hop influences, with a hi-hat-driven beat setting a groovy tone for “Ayana Spinel”.

A funky guitar in a wah-wah style adds the final touches to this feel-good tune, slowly taking the listener by hand to the chorus.

I absolutely love how melodic the pre-chorus is both on the instrumental and vocal end. The instrumental is cleaner in this part, creating the perfect stage for the warm vocals by IDOLiSH7. That blend of passionate, warm vocals and the groovy, bouncy instrumental had me begging for much more, especially knowing how brief this song is (under 3 minutes).

The bridge puts the whole group in unison for the first part, then carefully puts interesting match-ups on the vocal end in full display.

On the vocal end, IDOLiSH7 delivered more of their high quality. The growth this group has undergone can be felt not only with their sound but also in the way they perform together as well as their solo parts.

While the emotional unison in the chorus – surprisingly clean, as I was able to tell all members apart easily, something that is not easy in unison – is a highlight in and of itself, for me it was the performance in the first verse that grabbed my attention.

Yes, that brief part in the vocal mix in which Toshiki Masuda and KENN team up is hypnotic. The amount of smooth vibrato going on in there, and the warmth in those vocals is something that had me wishing we all got more of that match-up within IDOLiSH7’s songs.

Still, as a whole “Ayana Spinel” is a straightforward, groovy, and mature pop tune that continues to show how much the group continues to mature in front of our eyes and ears as well as how cohesive the group sounds.

If you haven’t listened to this tune, do take 2 minutes and give all your love and attention to how beautiful it sounds. You won’t regret it.
