Track by track analysis:
1 – キズアトがキズナとなる
“Kizuato ga Kizuna to Naru” brings forward a laidback old-school hip-hop sound that is a first for Fling Posse.
Atmospheric synths sparkle in the background. On top, a punchy bassline, a slow-paced hi-hat-driven beat, and a rhodes piano add an elegant twist to the vast soundscape in front of you.
The verses feel like a warm evening in the summer. Passionate, cozy, with happiness overflowing.
In the background, an electric guitar adds loungy accents to the instrumental and an organ hit makes its appearance in the pre-chorus, adding a layer of nostalgia to this song.
When you get to the chorus, you’re overwhelmed by the good vibes, passion, and joy. On a first listen, this chorus will catch you by surprise because this song sounds happy and is, indeed, a happy song.
Fling Posse appears for the very first time without a mask on top.
After all their trials, their deep emotional backstories, and the long battle they just underwent, “Kizuato ga Kizuna to Naru” celebrates all of those.
Good and bad are part of their bonds, a reason those are this strong. They are the reason they won the 2nd division battle and also a massive reason why this song is so heartwarming.
For this song, all members get an entire verse for them, taking in the loungy vibes and groovy instrumental while delivering a fancy and surprisingly elegant performance.
It is safe to say that all members performed in their usual styles but with a “softer” delivery.
Dice (CV: Yukihiro Nozuyama) has an aggressive edge to his clean flow how slightly softened for this song, Ramuda (CV: Yusuke Shirai) is not as sassy this time around – really no need for that in such a wholesome song such as this one.
What is noticeable about Shirai’s rapping is how he sounds smoother and more comfortable, even in some of the trickiest wordplays.
And Gentaro (CV: Soma Saito) mixes yet again clean, melodic singing with razor-sharp rapping, adding that finishing touch to what is a flawless performance by Fling Posse.
The chorus is all about “call and response” and I can see this song shine in a live setting. But as it is, you’ll find yourself singing along to the “All right, All right”, joining Fling Posse in this performance, in this important step in their story.
When “Kizuato ga Kizuna to Naru” wraps up, you hit replay again and again. That’s it. Bask in the good vibes.
Awesome old-school rap vibes with one of the best performances in Hypnosis Mic (so far).
2 – UNITED EMCEEZ -Enter the HEXAGON-
Wrapping up this CD is the first song by Division leaders – now with 6 members.
“UNITED EMCEEZ -Enter the HEXAGON-“ brings to the spotlight a hard-hitting sound. Dirty guitar riffs and pounding drums give life to an imposing yet groovy sound.
Pay closer attention to the instrumental as there are little details in the background that give a personal touch to each part.
From the traditional Buddhism elements behind Kuko’s (CV: Shoya Hayama) performance, to the edgy guitars behind Ichiro’s (CV: Subaru Kimura) part and even Sasara’s (CV: Ryota Iwasaki) playful twist, you have awesome details in this instrumental.
The song has 3 verses and match-ups between 2 crews in each of these. However don’t expect it to be a straightforward performance, this one feels more like a battle.
Each member gets a clean couple of seconds to deliver their performance and then it’s time for a back and forth leading to the chorus. Although this song is not meant to be a battle it is good to see a bit of competitiveness in the performances.
The groove to this instrumental is unreal and the simple bass drum-driven beat is relentless alongside all the scratching going on in the background.
The perfect closer to this CD and the 2nd division rap battle series.
Final considerations
Fling Posse celebrates its hard-fought battle in the 2nd division rap battle with what is a banger overflowing with good vibes and a pinch of nostalgia on top.
“Kizuato ga Kizuna to naru” has a classic hip-hop sound, I dare say dating back to the 90s. The beat is really clean, with some breakbeat in it, the bassline is punchy and bouncy. The focus on the little details that create the laidback soundscape in front of you when you listen to this song are absolutely awesome.
From the old-school rhodes piano melodies, the organ and synth accents or even the electric guitar melodies in the background all create a beautiful, emotional soundscape.
This is also the first time fans get to listen to the Fling Posse unmasked. There is no sarcasm in Ramuda’s rap, no recklessness in Dice’s rap or any lies in Gentaro’s parts.
This is genuinely the first time that you get to listen to what is a “happy” Fling Posse after overcoming a set of fierce battles however never doubting each other and their bonds.
Mad love for KREVA and his composition and lyrics because this song not only perfectly encapsulates Fling Posse’s path until here, their past, present, and future, but it also perfectly emulates that groovy, funk-imbued, 90s rap sound that I love to bits.
This is a masterful performance and composition. Massive collaboration and such an awesome victory celebration.
Completing this outstanding victory CD is Division Leaders’ “UNITED EMCEEZ -Enter the HEXAGON-“.
Once again rap-rock takes the stage however this time around with an intimidating twist that suits the franchise and, in this case, the leaders’ vibes. Although a collaboration there are still a place for battles, adding some excitement to the performances.
At the same time, in an instrumental that is quite intense as this one, it was interesting to find little details, quieter moments in the verses for each member to showcase their individual colors while taking pride in representing their crew as leaders.
Groove and good vibes aplenty, Fling Posse’s “Kizuato ga Kizuna to Naru” is the perfect wrap-up to a long, hard-fought 2nd division rap battle CD series. The culmination of much love, sweat, and tears.
Once again, congrats to Fling Posse for this massive and deserved win.
