Track analysis:

1 – SHINE FOR US

pioniX kick off the Neo X Lied series with SHINE FOR US, song that explores a high octane rock sound.

A thunderous bass line, shredding guitar riffs and powerful, splashy drums create an exciting, hyped up soundscape in which you will want to let yourself lose in (especially if you love that rock concert vibe that this song exudes).

The verses are intense and fast paced, building up tension to the chorus without missing a beat. The chorus carries a lot of emotion, with retro synth stabs making their intro in this part, for a touch of electronica.

Massive props to the shredding guitar solo in the bridge that breathed even more life to this song. Awesome work.

When it comes to the vocals pioniX really have the lineup to impress. Yoshiki Nakajima, Tetsuei Sumiya, Hinata Tadokoro and Mizuki Chiba were in perfect harmony.

Sumiya and Chiba covered everything upper register whereas Nakajima goes for a mix of mid and high notes as Tadokoro covers those deep, growly notes with a lot of flair.

Every singer gets their spotlight and make the best of it, going for passionate, intense performances that fit the up-tempo rock instrumental to a T.

Awesome way to kick off the Neo X Lied series for this super group with a lot of talent in its lineup.

In case you’re still wondering, pioniX are a pretty exciting outfit and SHINE FOR US is the perfect introductory song for them.

REVIEW OVERVIEW

SHINE FOR US

SUMMARY

TOBARI and infinit0 team up as pioniX to tackle the Neo X Lied series, delivering one of the most exciting and intense introductory songs in SHINE FOR US. TOBARI's rock and infinit0's electronica blended to create and exciting and shredding rock song that is overflowing with energy. On the vocal end, pioniX is a surprisingly powerful group, with solid harmonies and a good balance in both skillsets and voice tones. They cover a lot of range and are especially powerful in the tenor (Yoshiki Nakajima) and faux bass (Tadokoto Hinata) ranges. Solid debut single that leaves me wanting more from this group.
