Minami Natsume‘s solo song “DEJAVU” brings to the table a minimal lounge instrumental piece and an interesting vocal performance.

DEJAVU kicks off with a strong presence of the genre minimal lounge in the instrumental piece, courtesy of the synth pads and the rhodes piano that adds more to DEJAVU. Although we say the instrumental pends towards the minimal approach that does not mean there are not variations in the instrumentalization.
Little by little there is some sort of percussion added to the instrumental piece and the rhodes piano e replaced by your common piano. In the first couple of seconds of the track, the mood seems to be a little neutral, in a sense that we cannot foresee what will be the evolution of its instrumental piece, but when we reach the chorus it seems as though the mood becomes slightly up-beat, though for the general part it either remains neutral, as aforementioned, or touching the somewhat dark mood.
The chorus is the perfect time for the piano to steal the show with its either high or medium pitched notes delivering more emotion to the instrumental, but also leading the listener to pay more attention to Nishiyama‘s vocal performance which seems to be attempting to accompany the piano while it changes the pitch of the notes played.
The outro however incorporates some wave sounds and refocus the attention to the piano, targeting not only the instrumental piece, but also making the transition between the song and its ending more subtle.
DEJAVU is that song that has although it is simple/minimal sounding has quite a lot of interesting elements that makes this song something that one could easily describe as summer song, especially if we take into account that there are waves in the instrumental piece.
