Synthwave-inspired drums and synths open the doors to a retro-futuristic sound in “DRESSING”. Mamoru Miyano has his first take on this sound and let me tell you, this is dreamy.
The verses are tight, with an 808 beat joining in as an accent to add more depth to the deep bassy synth-led instrumental.
When the chorus kicks in, that punchy bassline, distant funky guitar riffs and strings help paint this dreamy, futuristic soundscape you just want to ride into without a destination.
When it comes to the vocals, I love how Mamoru Miyano fits the synthwave/vaporwave genre. His smooth mid-toned vocals are gentle but when he brings his high notes and falsetto, this song really becomes something truly special.
What a performance. Unbelievably good. Refreshing and addictive from start to finish.

And wrapping up this single is “AUTHENTICA”, song that brings an orchestra to the spotlight with a bright piano in the background, delicately adding emotion to this song as the strings are sweet and gentle, complementing Mamoru Miyano’s emotional vocals.
I love the addition of an orchestra in the background, bringing those pizzicato strings, the high key piano melodies slowly painting the soundscape in beautiful hues while the drums and bassline add depth and warmth to this performance.
This is a sweet ballad-style song that suits Mamoru Miyano’s vocals and emotional range, slowly building up the tension to the marching drums in the bridge. When listening to this song you will feel as if you’re being hugged softly.

Ah, Mamo. You really upped the ante with this one. “Dressing” is an absolutely phenomenal single that takes him to neon-filled soundscape in the title track but then also shows the deeply emotional and powerful side of his as a solo artist with the beautiful b-side track “AUTHENTICA”.
For me, one thing is for certain, Mamoru Miyano made me both crave more synthwave songs by male seiyuu – and more from him, for sure – as well as wish there were more male seiyuu artists taking their songs to a different place, getting those orchestral adaptations or just bring in a full orchestral as the backdrop for their music.
If there is one single that has stayed with me for a long time – and was released in 2024 – is this one.
Time to say, I’m excited for what Mamo releases next.
