Popular veteran seiyuu Katsuyuki Konishi is going to release his 1st and last photobook “524” in May.
“524” is the title of Konishi’s 1st – and yes, last – photobook and is scheduled to hit stores in Japan on 24/05/2024.
The photobook is going to have two editions: Regular and Amazon Japan. The only difference between both is the cover.
The photobook was created in collaboration with TV Guide VOICE STARS following the hype behind his main cover feature in their Dandyism magazine.
The cover is the following for each edition:
Since his debut in 1996, popular voice actor Katsuyuki Konishi has continuously appeared in hit works such as “Tengen Toppa Gurren Lagann” (as Kamina), “Tokyo Ghoul” (as Koutaro Amon), “JoJo’s Bizarre Adventure: Golden Wind” (as Diavolo), and “Demon Slayer” (as Tengen Uzui), maintaining his presence in the industry’s forefront for nearly 30 years.
Now, Konishi is set to release his “first and last” photobook.
The inspiration for this project came from the response to his appearance on the cover of the 2023 issue of “TV Guide VOICE STARS Dandyism vol.6“, his first solo cover ever.
Encouraged by the feedback, Konishi decided to create a photobook.
From the planning stage, he expressed his ideas, such as wanting to depict the changes from his debut to the present using “colors”.
The trusted photographer for the project is Yosuke Komatsu, with whom Konishi has had a longstanding relationship. For the wardrobe, Konishi included nearly 20 outfits, some of which he had never publicly worn before.
Upon the recent announcement of the project, the photobook quickly rose to the top of major e-commerce sites in Japan.
Additionally, on his 51st birthday, April 21st, the second set of preview photos was released.
Shot in a hotel, these images feature Konishi in a dignified suit, shedding his jacket, loosening his tie, and lounging on the bed in a dozy scene.
In another shot from the shower room, he exudes a “dripping with charm” vibe through the glass.
The photobook is set to be released on “Konishi Memorial Day”, May 24th, with a making-of DVD included in sets available exclusively through Animate and Gamers.
“524“ is currently unavailable for purchase at CDJAPAN. However, you can find it at Amazon Japan (they ship internationally).
