Track by track analysis:

1 – Sugaring Off Party!

Sugaring Off Party! brings to this WORLD TRE@SURE series Canadian’s maritime music. The playfulness of brass is infectious, being a pivotal element in this song. Organ and piano melodies highlight the energy and fun of this song whereas snary drums and bells add a bit of depth. Guitars and bass aren’t necessarily core instruments in this song, being relegated to the background to add interesting details to this track. This song explores traditional Canadian maritime music as in, an hybrid between folk, Celtic and, in this case, modern pop music.

The performance is equally bright, fitting perfectly with this fun song while showcasing the group’s consistency on the vocal end. A song made to light up your day. 5/5

2 – MEET THE WORLD! (CANADA Ver.)

Built around a playful piano melody and groovy bass line, MEET THE WORLD! takes pride in its upbeat and danceable sound. Atmospheric synths, strings and simple bass-driven drums add the finishing touches to this instrumental, creating an addictive and, at the same time, inspiring sound. Paying close attention to this song, it actually sounds like a throwback 80’s pop tune – mainly due to its piano melody. This lineup managed to deliver a thoroughly consistent performance however, slightly below the quality found in previous takes on it. 4/5

Final rating:4 5 stars

The 8th entry in the WORLD TRE@SURE series explores the sounds of Canada.

Sugaring Off Party! added a fun touch to this WORLD TRE@SURE series by introducing listeners to Canada’s maritime music. Folk music sure has morphed into a million other genres around the world but we hadn’t still come across this sub-genre. If you listened to this song carefully, you’ll notice influences from rock to pop to folk, dance and even jazz, this last one being one responsible for adding that danceable edge to the song.

It is inevitable to compare performances across teams when it comes to MEET THE WORLD!. Canada’s team did their best with their lineup of mid-to-high toned singers but ultimately their performance was a bit below the quality of previous takes on this song.

In general, on the vocal end this lineup surprised us. As talented as all these seiyuu are, truth is, this is not a lineup known for having good singers or power vocals of any kind. But it is exactly in this kind of unknown, underdog environment that there are interesting finds. This lineup comprised of Yusuke Nagano (Altessimo), Shoya Chiba (HighxJoker), Takuya Kodama (Café Parade) and Shogo Yano (Mofumofuen) was up for the task and delivered a consistent performance that kept us entertained for this release.

This series continues to travel around the world and show, through unique auditory experiences, a new world of sonorities, instruments and soundscapes that, otherwise, most people would not voluntarily visit. Aside from the fun element, this WORLD TRE@SURE series is being extremely educative, especially to younger generations – in general more exposed to mainstream music – on different kinds of music, countries, traditional elements, between many other distinctive things.

This entry might not be on the same level as previous releases but it is still extremely fun to listen to and the vocals are pleasing. IDOLMASTER SideM WORLD TRE@SURE 08 is another unique entry in the series that deserves a listen.
