What is The Hand That Feeds HQ?
I'm a music geek, just like you, but with a specific passion: male seiyuu music and 2D groups.
Back in 2011, the world of seiyuu was a different place. Solo debuts were rare, and 2D/2.5D units were practically nonexistent. There was barely a whisper of this exciting music scene in English. That's when The Hand That Feeds HQ (from hereon: THTFHQ) was born. A note that the website existed since 2010 but it only focused 100% on male seiyuu in 2011.
THTFHQ started as a solo project by me, Vanessa Silva, fueled by the desire to create a space for fans to discover and celebrate the incredible music coming from male seiyuu.
From 2014 to 2019, THTFHQ had an amazing 2-person team helping keep the news flowing, but since 2019, it's back to a one-woman show (that's me!).
Here's what makes The Hand That Feeds HQ special:
THTFHQ's Mission
The mission is simple: celebrating the incredible music created by male seiyuu artists and 2D music projects. And sharing it in English language for the whole world to see how talented and - at times - genius some of these artists are.
Join me on this journey into the world of seiyuu music! I promise to keep you updated on all the latest releases, hidden gems, and can't-miss news. Let's celebrate these talented artists together (and spread the word about them!).
About me
I'm The Hand That Feeds HQ founder, content creator, and music reviewer.
If you see any content by THTFHQ, it was I the one behind it haha I'm the only person managing everything at The Hand That Feeds HQ. Yes, the website, the reviews, the podcast and the YouTube channel (Even social media). And I'm not paid for anything I do here (believe it or not).
I'm currently a marketing director for a human resources startup. And I am creating my own digital marketing agency. My expertise? Content Creation and strategy. My core studies were in Law though. I worked as a paralegal in Macau for almost a year before changing careers to marketing.
I've always been passionate about music - living in a household in which everyone listened to a wide variety of music genres and artists. As such, in 2006, I decided to start composing and writing my own music. I was a composer and DJ from 2006 until 2012. I still compose music from time to time but not with the same focus on becoming pro. I play guitar, drums, synths/piano and have expertise as a producer and sound mixing engineer. I'm self-taught in everything I just mentioned.
Stumbling upon Mamoru Miyano's "Orpheus" in 2011 was the start of this journey at THTFHQ. Since then I've fallen in love with many male seiyuu artists and 2D groups.
Favorite male seiyuu artists: Soma Saito, Makoto Furukawa, Yuma Uchida and Toshiyuki Toyonaga. Favorite artists: The GazettE, David Bowie, Depeche Mode, Prince, Nine Inch Nails, Architects, Bring Me the Horizon. Best album of all time: Soma Saito's "my beautiful valentine".
If music is thought-provoking or deep, you may find me writing almost essays (not limited to, but it happens a lot with Soma Saito's music). I'm also the producer and host of the male seiyuu-centric podcast, SEIYUU LOUNGE.
(In case you're wondering, this website's name is the title of my favorite Nine Inch Nails song)
Thanks for visiting THTFHQ and sharing this passion with me!
